@Russ - Actually the thing you're missing is they remove the 2GB to place the 4GB in it. If you leave the 2GB and buy the 4GB from Crucial you can actually sell the 2GB previously installed.

I priced the ram upgrades on crucial before I bought my new MBP and the 4GB kit was $140 before shipping. The apple store upgrades it for $150 so those high memory premiums seem to be gone for now at least.

Do NOT buy your extra RAM from Apple...get it from Crucial.com or some other Internet vendor. Apple charges a huge premium for their RAM in their BTO units, and it is a painfully-easy user upgrade that will not void your warranty.

Welcome to the Apple family...enjoy the ride!

I'm loving mac and linux as compared to windows which I was on for years. But Apple just released the new MBP's in Australia to the tune of $4500.

Let me repeat...$4500

wtf?

1.) I think you are lying.

2.) I hope you aren't.

3.) If you aren't, I'll welcome you to the club.

4.) If you are purchasing one... upgrade the ram to 4GB for $150. To cheap to forgo!
